More about me
I’m a 3rd-year student at UTM, an Applied Mathematics Major and CS Specialist with a 3.99 cGPA, who has been itching to teach in an official capacity since starting my degree. I’ve taught this topic for years, and I would be very happy to TA for my favourite subject (P&S). I plan to pursue graduate studies in statistics/applied math.
Per-course
STA220H5, STA246H5: In addition to the above, I have relevant coding experience. R through STA107, Python experience from projects:
- Building an ETL data pipeline, then comparing different approaches to modeling baseball pitch sequences (e.g., Markov chains, ML classifier, etc.) Click Here.
- Applying numerical analysis (MAT264) and Python for modeling implied volatility of European options: Click Here.
STA256H5, STA260H5: Finished with 95, 93 respectively. I have been reading STA347H1 notes to prepare for STA348H5, and am completing the actuarial Exam P (Probability), so I am well-versed in probability theory. I’ve been teaching probability & statistics since high school, where I taught MDM4U in a peer tutor program (overlaps with STA220 and STA246).
Work Experience
Teaching background: As mentioned, I have tutored continuously since high school, where I taught courses like Physics, Advanced Functions, and Data Management in an organized peer tutoring program. The Data Management course in particular (MDM4U) covered much of the computational probability and statistics in STA220 and STA246. Also, as the high school’s STEM Club president, I also taught and ran several workshops.
More recently, I have continued to teach by doing freelance tutoring for high school and first-year students, which has given me practical experience explaining mathematical topics to the relevant age/experience range for courses like STA220 and STA246.
Professional: I am currently a Software Developer Intern at Canada Life (Summer 2026) and have previously worked part-time on a startup as a Software Developer. I also manage a team as VP of Communications for the UTM Filipino Student Association.
